Oxford Crime & Emergency Reports from July 11, 2019

The following reports were made July 11, 2019, by city and county law enforcement agencies, unless otherwise indicated.

Oxford Police Department issued 35 tickets, investigated two wrecks and the following reports:
1 911 hang-up
3 alarms
1 discharging fireworks in the city limits
1 disturbing the peace
1 fire department assist
1 phone harassment
2 suspicious activities
1 suspicious person
3 vehicle searches
1 welfare check

OPD officers made the following arrests:
1 DUI and careless driving
1 DUI, possession of drug paraphernalia, no driver’s license, no insurance and speeding
2 for DUI and driving while license suspended
1 open container and running a red light
1 possession of drug paraphernalia

Lafayette Sheriff’s Department investigated one wreck, made one arrest for contempt of court and investigated the following reports:
1 agency assist
2 alarms
2 animal complaints
3 civil matter
1 disturbance
3 follow up
1 information
1 reckless driving
1 road obstruction
6 service calls
4 transports
2 welfare concerns

Deputies made the following arrests:
3 agency holds
2 writs to take custody

University Police Department conducted two vehicle stops investigated one wreck and a report of disturbing the peace.

Oxford Fire Department responded to the following calls:
9:40 a.m. – 800 Park Apts. – third-floor smoke detector malfunction
12:18 p.m. – Ross Department Store – smell of smoke – nothing was found
4:55 p.m. – 312 Hwy 7 South area – subject pulled over and is having difficulty breathing – provided care until EMS arrived
6:34 p.m. – Country Club / Pat Lamar Park – a limb on a power line causing it to arc – stood by for Electric Dept.
8 p.m. – 1305 Madison Ave. – fire alarm system malfunction causing multiple detectors to activate
5:37 & 7:39 a.m. – South Oxford Center – second floor in parking garage smoke detector malfunction
6:30 a.m. – BMH – call canceled
