Ole Miss Softball’s Kylan Becker Garners Academic All-America Honor

Ole Miss senior Kylan Becker was named to the Google Cloud Academic All-America Second Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America on Thursday. Becker became only the third Rebel in program history to receive the honor.
The news comes just a week after the speedy outfielder was selected to the NFCA All-America First Team, becoming the second All-American in program history.
Becker joins Stephanie Vaglica and Jamie Cummings as the only Rebels to ever be named an Academic All-America athlete. Vaglica was honored in 1998, while Cummings received the laurel a few years later in 2001.
The Miami native is one of seven players from the SEC to receive Academic All-America recognition, joining Kentucky’s Jenny Schaper and Katie Reed, South Carolina’s Mackenzie Boesel, Florida’s Kelly Barnhill, Alabama’s Kaylee Tow and Missouri’s Kara Decker.
Becker, an exercise science major, led the SEC and ranked fifth nationally with 84 hits – the second highest total in school history. During her historic season, Becker broke three single-season school records, registering 55 runs, nine triples and 34 stolen bases. Becker finishes her career ranking in the top-10 in nearly every statistical category imaginable.
