Bond has been denied for the former Oxford police officer charged with the murder of Dominique “Lucy” Clayton.
On Friday, Lafayette County Circuit Court Judge John Gregory signed an order denying bond for Matthew Kinne, who was arrested Monday in connection with Clayton’s death. He is currently charged with murder and being held at the Panola County Jail.
Clayton was found dead at 2 p.m. Sunday at her Brittany Woods home. The Oxford Police Department turned the investigation over to the Mississippi Bureau of Investigations after determining Kinne was a suspect and was apparently “involved” with Clayton. He was an officer with OPD for four years before he was terminated Tuesday.
His attorney, Tony Farese, said the District Attorney’s Office requested the court to deny bond and that he and his client, Kinne, agreed to that request.
Kinne will remain in custody on no bond until a preliminary hearing, if requested, or grand jury action.
Clayton’s family and their attorney, Carlos Moore, will be holding a press conference at 2:30 today in front of the Lafayette County Courthouse.
