Former Ole Miss guard Erika Sisk just finished her rookie season with the Petrolina AEK (Cyprus), an international professional basketball club, where she led the league in scoring.

Sisk was an offensive trailblazer, averaging 22.0 ppg during her inaugural season. She also finished third in the league in assists and second in the league in steals.

“I thank God and I’m truly blessed to do the things I did,” Sisk said.

For Sisk, playing professional basketball was a dream come true.

“I worked hard and it paid off,” she said. “It was just a great feeling to see my work ethic was paying off.”

While playing overseas, Sisk said she had to adjust to the language because her teammates might not always understand her southern accent when she called the plays.

“As an American, my team looked to me as a leader and played around me,” Sisk said. “They depended on me heavy which something I love.”

The Oxford native played high school basketball for the Oxford Chargers. She led the Chargers to three straight state tournaments and a 33-0 undefeated season and state title in 2012. In her senior season, she averaged 23.0 points, 6.0 steals, 5.1 assists and 3.3 rebounds per game.

“From high school coaches until now, I just keep gaining more and more knowledge about the game,” she said. “The things I learn I love to come back and teach kids in the younger generation.”

After graduation, Sisk went to play at Murray State for a season her freshman year. She averaged 13.6 points, 3.4 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.8 steals to help earn her the Ohio Valley Conference freshman of the year award.

Sisk returned to Oxford to play for the Rebels under former head coach Matt Insell. In her final three seasons to suit up for the red and blue—94 games during her career—she shot .361 percent from the floor and .195 percent from beyond the arc.

“Erika is a game changer with her athleticism on both ends of the floor,” Insell said. “I am not surprised about her success overseas due to her work ethic and her ability to score the basketball in many different ways. I am very proud of Erika and I have enjoyed following her success this past year.”
