Bright summer colors and flowing skirts were the focus of Oxford’s Leisure Lifestyles Fashion Show. Leisure Lifestyles is a group dedicated to providing recreational opportunities to residents over 50.

This year’s event was a sell-out with more than 100 people attending the show at the Powerhouse.

Yoknapatawpha Arts Council Director Wayne Andrews says the Council partnered with the group to help raise money for an important segment of the city’s population.

“The Leisure Lifestyle community, which is the 50-plus community, which is rapidly growing in Oxford,”  says Andrews.

Leisure Lifestyles Administrator Kris Brasher says seniors love the opportunity to get out and be a part of the community.

“They like to get out of the house. You had food involved, that always helps. They knew we were going to be doing the raffles. We had a lot of good prizes this year for that,” says Brasher.

In addition to a luncheon, attendees purchased raffle tickets for a chance to win all kinds of prizes. From lamps to make-up, art to Ole Miss gear, lucky winners took home the loot.

The organization partners with the Oxford Parks Commission, holding weekly events for retirees. Activities include total body fitness, nighttime yoga, aerobic exercise, ‘dancing with a twist’, line dancing, and ‘art with a kick’.

Annually, the group has two big fundraisers; this is the second year for the fashion show and raffle.

Sometimes I style outfits around shoes too! But it’s usually more so when it’s a statement shoe. Something like OTK boots or booties or if they’re a fun color like those red heels!yoga shorts

I love shoes too! Especially the ones you are wearing, they are gorgeous. Since my surgeries I can’t wear heels any more so sadly all of my pretty shoes sit unused in the bottom of my wardrobe now. I still find myself looking at them in shops or online all the time though.Matterhorn

I actually haven’t bought any new clothes this year (pretty shocking for a fashion blogger) but I set myself the aim of not being able to buy brand new for a whole year. Instead I’m focussing on shopping my wardrobe and buying pre-owned. I’m definitely going to take a look at the app though as I think one year of this challenge is probably all I can manage!women’s poncho scarf

Thank you for writing this post! This is everything I’ve been feeling since my son was born six months ago. I used to be in dresses and heels all the time. Now I live in jumpers and jeans, which feels so alien. It’s like I just cant be bothered with dresses right now, and so little of my vintage repro wardrobe is breastfeeding friendly. Your post has made me feel a little less lazy and a little less alone.birds of love

Total myth. I love horizontal stripes! Several of my favorite shirts and dresses are striped, and I’m not a skinny by any means. I feel good when I look good, and honey, I look Great in stripes.natural makeup look

Gorgeous dresses! I love the way you can dress them up or down. I wore a few in Hawaii and I loved the lazy feel but the lovely look. 🙂amex login
