Tupelo Main Street Gears Up for Annual Bud & Burgers Competition

The Downtown Tupelo Main Street Association and Mitchell Distributing are bringing the 4th Annual Bud & Burgers competition back to Tupelo Friday, April 5.

The competition allows for home cooks, restaurants, businesses, or organizations to assemble teams to compete for prizes for the best burger.

The 4th annual Bud & Burgers will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Broadway Street in downtown Tupelo. Admission to attend the event is $10 per person and allows attendees the opportunity to sample burgers from participating teams and vote for their favorite to win the coveted People’s Choice award. There will be music during the night and beer and soft drinks will be available for sale.

“We are thrilled to partner with the Downtown Tupelo Main Street Association again to bring Bud & Burgers to Tupelo for the fourth year,” said Anna Grace Tanner, communications manager for Mitchell Companies.

“Since the inception of this event in Tupelo, we’ve been blown away by the outpouring support we’ve had for this event and we’re looking forward to continuing to grow Bud & Burgers every year in our community. We are incredibly thankful to the Downtown Tupelo Main Street Association for our partnership and all they’ve done to help make this event so successful.”

Registration is now open for teams to sign-up to compete in this year’s event. For the first time, there is no fee to compete as a team. However, those interested must register at www.mitchelldistributing.com or stop by the Downtown Tupelo Main Street Association office by March 29 to reserve your spot.

Teams will be comprised of four people, with each team receiving four T-shirts and 16 drink tickets. Each team will be provided a 10×10 space for a tent with extra room provided for a grill and are allowed to set up on the day of the event at 1 p.m., but must be finished by 3 p.m.

Due to ABC regulation, no additional beverages are allowed on site. The event’s sponsor, Mitchell Distributing, will provide beverages available for purchase. There will be prizes for first, second, and third place, which will be voted on by the judges. There is also a new secret ingredient category that will have a first-place winner. On top of the judged winners, there will also be a People’s Choice award voted by the attendees, as well as a Best Theme Decorations award.
