MSEMA Announces Hazardous Weather for the State
The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MSEMA) announced Wednesday morning via Twitter that although the threat of inclement weather has diminished a little, the state of Mississippi is still expected to face several hazards.
“Several rounds of storms, some of which could be severe, are expected with #HeavyRainfall, #DamagingWinds and possible #Tornadoes,” MSEMA tweeted.
The National Weather Service (NWS) placed a “Wind Advisory” into effect for the Oxford area from Wednesday, March 13, 10 a.m. until Thursday, March 14, 12 a.m.
LOU residents can expect showers and thunderstorms tonight with a low around 63, according to the NWS. The area is expected to be windy, with a south southeast wind 15 to 25 mph, with gusts as high as 40 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent. The NWS predicts that the new rainfall could possibly bring in rain amounts between 2 and 3 inches.
