Spring Break for Oxonians Will Be Mostly Chilly and Damp

Don’t put those umbrellas and sweaters away just yet – Spring Break will be a wet one.

Mother Nature will take Lafayette County on one of her rollercoaster-like weather rides this week.

According to the National Weather Service, Lafayette County residents will wake up today to rain showers mostly before 1 this afternoon with a high near 57 degrees. The low for tonight is an expected 47 degrees under cloudy skies.

Tuesday should hit a high of 66 degrees but will remain mostly cloudy; however, no rain is expected throughout the day. Tuesday’s low is expected to be around 55 degrees.

Rain will return Wednesday after around 1 p.m. with a 90 percent chance of showers. The high will reach around 73 degrees. Wednesday evening there’s a 50 percent chance for showers and thunderstorms with winds increasing to 15 to 20 mph, with gusts reaching as high as 30 mph. Rainfall amounts are expected to be 1 to 2 inches. The low will be around 61.

On Thursday more rain and thunderstorms are expected as a cold front moves into the area with a 50 percent chance of rain in the morning. Later in the day, the sun is expected to break through; however, the expected high of 74 degrees will drop throughout the day to about a low of 42 degrees. Thursday night has a 20 percent chance of a rain shower as the cold front settles in Lafayette County.

Friday through Sunday is expected to cooler but dry with highs around 55 degrees and lows in the mid-30s.
