Calling All Beer Lovers, Miss-I-Sippin Beer Festival Is Almost Here
Attention beer lovers, this one is for you!
Oxford’s 10th annual Miss-I-Sippin Beer Festival is coming to town March 29-30. Eleven different vendors are coming to bring their products for a pub crawl, scavenger hunt, and after party.
“The scavenger hunt really helps people get a better feel for the Square,” Tore Christiansen, the festival event planner said. “It is all on the Square, though, so you just walk from place to place.”
On Friday night there is a banquet scheduled, followed by a scavenger from 12 p.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday.
“This was the biggest tourist festival last year, which was really exciting for me since it was my first event to plan,” Christiansen said. “It really benefits Oxford and the tourism side, and I really try to highlight all the locations and culture in Oxford as well.”
Vendors will come in from across the country, bringing locals some fresh ideas.
“I look at Oxford as being a big liquor and wine town,” Allen Jackson, owner of Jackson Beer Company said. “And this is our chance to kind of see what we can do for the beer side of it, too.”
Jackson, who worked in Washington D.C. for 10 years, and his company helped Christiansen reach out to different brewers. They expect to see beers from Panama City, Florida, to Nashville, Tennessee, and from all over Mississippi, although he says it’s not easy.
“Mississippi just has some strict laws, so we are trying to get a big variety, I think we have a lot of good people coming this year. I am really looking forward to it,” Jackson said.
