Rebels Take Game One in the Big Easy

The No. 10 Ole Miss Rebels defeated the Tulane Green Wave 6-4 in the opening game of the series in New Orleans.
Ole Miss (3-1) got on the scoreboard first as Anthony Servideo scored on a RBI off the bat of Ryan Olenek.
The Rebels scratched their second run across in the second.
Pitcher Zack Phillips did not allow Tulane to get on the board until the third inning. The Green Wave scored two runs on three hits in the inning.
Phillips did not allow the Green Wave to take the lead until the fifth as Tulane scratched their final two runs of the game.
Ole Miss and Tulane traded runs and the lead in the middle frames of the game.
Phillips’ night came to end in the fifth inning. He worked 4.1 innings giving up four runs on six hits while striking out four and allowing three walks.
Cole Zabowski delivered a two-run home run that tied the game at 4-4 in the sixth inning.
Head Coach Mike Bianco used a total of three pitchers out of the bullpen: Austin Miller (1.2), Doug Nikhazy (1.1) and Parker Caracci (1.2). Miller got the win.
Caracci picked up his first save of the season.
Shortstop Grae Kessinger hit his first home run of the season to give the Rebels a 5-4 lead.
Left fielder Thomas Dillard pushed across the winning run on a RBI single to center field that scored Olenek.
Ole Miss got all six runs on six hits while the defense played an error free game.
The Rebels will try to take the series on Saturday. First pitch has been moved up an hour to 1 p.m.
