The No. 10 Ole Miss Rebels baseball team put on an impressive offensive display in a 15-3 win against the Arkansas State Red Wolves Wednesday night at Swayze Field.

Ole Miss (2-1) got behind early in the first inning as the Red Wolves took an early 2-0 lead on the Rebels and freshman pitcher Gunnar Hoglund. Arkansas State’s (2-2) two-runs came on three hits before Hoglund settled in to strikeout the side.

The Rebels offense did not wait long to get warm as they put up five runs in the first inning. Third baseman Tyler Keenan gave Ole Miss the lead with a three-run home run, Thomas Dillard followed it up with a triple to the wall in center. Center fielder Ryan Olenek drove him in and Tim Elko brought Olenek home on a ground out to the shortstop.

Arkansas State cut into the deficit in the second with their last run of the game.

Hoglund worked a total of two innings as he gave up three runs on four hits, striking out three batters and only allowed one free pass.

In the third inning, Coach Mike Bianco brought junior right-hander Houston Roth to the mound out of the pin. Roth gave up one hit in two innings as he struck out four ASU batters and only allowed one walk. He picked up the win.

Ole Miss’ offense went back to work in the fourth with five more runs scored in the inning. The Rebels got into the Red Wolves bullpen in the fourth as Carter Holt’s night came to a close. Holt gave up 10 runs on 12 hits he struck out two and allowed four walks.

Dillard made his collegiate debut behind the plate and in the fifth inning, he delivered a three-run home run. The Rebels added one more run in the frame. Dillard finished the night going 2-for-4 and 3 RBI’s.

Coach Bianco called on the arms of Doug Nihazy (1.0), Connor Green (2.0), Jordan Fowler (1.0) and Tyler Myers (1.0) to close the door on Arkansas State.

Ole Miss would tack on the final run of the game in the sixth inning as Carl Gindl scored on a fielder’s choice off the bat of Anthony Servideo.

Keenan had a team-high RBI as he drove in five of his teammates on his three hits in five at bats.
