Every baby born at Baptist North Mississippi during the month of February will receive a red crocheted beanie hat to celebrate new life and heart health of newborns. In addition, parents will receive an Adult/Child CPR Anytime kit to take home so they can learn the lifesaving skill.

Little Hats, Big Hearts promotes awareness of heart disease – the number one killer of all Americans – and congenital heart defects – the number one birth defect for all babies born in Oxford.

“Baptist North Mississippi is a proud sponsor of the American Heart Association’s Little Hats, Big Hearts campaign to raise awareness about congenital heart defects in our community. We are pleased to be the first hospital in the state of Mississippi to offer the CPR Anytime kits as part of the campaign,” said Bill Henning, CEO and administrator of BMH-NM.

“More than 300,000 people suffer out-of-hospital sudden cardiac arrest each year. Nearly 90 percent don’t survive. We would like to help change that, and we can’t think of a better place to start than with parents.”

In November 2017, the hospital moved into a new, five-story, 600,000-square-foot facility. The new hospital building offers a larger emergency department, advanced technology and larger rooms. Since the hospital became affiliated with the Baptist system in 1989, Baptist has invested almost $700 million into the community.
