The Ole Miss Rebels found their rhythm from behind the arc in Auburn as they defeated the Tigers 60-55 to complete the season sweep.
“It was an unbelievable effort from our players,” coach Kermit Davis said.
Ole Miss (17-7, 7-4 SEC) hit a total of 13 3-pointers for a total of 39 points in the game.
Junior Breein Tyree led the Rebels in scoring with 20 points and 3 steals on the night. He has scored at least 20 points in six straight games.
Sophomore Devontae Shuler was right on Tyree’s heels with 17 of his own. Tyree and Shuler both knocked down four 3-pointers.
Senior Terence Davis found himself in foul trouble early in the game and had to miss most of the first half. He finished the contest with 8 points and 4 fouls.
Auburn was led in the game by sophomore Chuma Okeke who had a double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds.
“Okeke was a very good player tonight,” Davis said.
Coach Davis’s squad held the Tigers to 5-of-20 from behind the arc. Auburn came into the game averaging 12 3-pointers a night.
Auburn got to the free throw line in the game 23 times and made 18 of them. The Rebels hit 9 of their 13 attempts.
Ole Miss returns to the Pavilion Saturday afternoon as they host the Missouri Tigers. Tip-off is set for 2:30 p.m.
