Ole Miss Keeps the Bulldogs on a Leash After Road Win

Ole Miss went on the road to defeat the Georgia Bulldogs 80-64 behind the hot hand of junior Breein Tyree who scored 31 points, matching his career high and clinching his fifth straight 20-point performance.
Tyree’s shooting performance placed him as one of the newest members of the 1,000-point club for the Rebels.
Ole Miss (16-7, 6-4 SEC) fell behind by a 10-point deficit in the first five minutes of action 18-8 before they clawed their way back into the lead with a 14-2 run. The Rebels run began at the 14:26 mark on a jumper by Devontae Shuler that lasted for almost four minutes of action.
Head Coach Kermit Davis’s squad had two other players join Tyree in double figure scoring — freshman Blake Hinson added 13 points and senior Terence Davis added 12 of his own.
Senior Bruce Stevens had a big afternoon against Georgia with 6 points and 9 rebounds.
Georgia (10-13, 1-9 SEC) had three different players reach double figures on the day in Rayshaun Hammonds, Jordan Harris and Tyree Crump who all scored 10-points respectively.
At the half, Ole Miss took a 45-33 lead going into the dressing room.
The Rebels came out in the second half and continued to keep Georgia at bay. The closest the Bulldogs got to catching up in the game was 47-38 on a jumper by Nicolas Claxton at the 17:37 mark.
Ole Miss out rebounded the Bulldogs on both ends of the glass as they pulled down 13 offensive boards to Georgia’s 9 rebounds. On the defensive end, the Rebels kept the advantage with 25 to 23. Overall, Ole Miss had 38 to Georgia’s 32 boards.
Georgia did have the advantage from behind the arc over Ole Miss as both teams attempted 25 3-pointers. The Bulldogs knocked down 11, but the Rebels only connected on 9 for the day.
This season, Ole Miss has been hot from the free throw line. Saturday was no exception as they made 15 of their 19 attempts to secure the win.
Ole Miss remains on the road as they travel to Auburn on Wednesday. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. on the SEC Network.
