Crime and Emergency Reports from Feb. 8-10, 2019

The following reports were made Feb. 8-10, 2019, by city, university and county law enforcement agencies, unless otherwise noted.

Oxford Police Department issued 56 tickets, investigated 14 wrecks and the following reports:
22 alarms
1 animal complaint
1 burglary
5 careless driving complaints
1 civil matter
2 credit card fraud
13 disturbing the peace complaints
3 domestic disturbances
2 harassing phone calls
6 improper parking complaints
3 K9 searches
2 larcenies
1 lost property
2 malicious mischief complaints
6 motorist assists
4 other agency assists
2 shopliftings
3 simple assaults
15 suspicious activities
5 suspicious persons
4 suspicious vehicles
3 vehicle searches
10 welfare checks

Officers made the following arrests:
1 for careless driving, no liability insurance, following too close and passing on a solid yellow
2 DUIs
1 for DUI, careless driving, no liability insurance, seat belt violation and open container
1 for fake ID and littering
1 for possession of drug paraphernalia, warrant served, no liability insurance, driving while license suspended and speeding
1 for possession of drug paraphernalia and speeding
2 public drunks
2 for public drunk and fake ID
1 for public drunk and shoplifting
1 for shoplifting
1 for driving while license suspended, seat belt violation and an outstanding warrant

Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department investigated two wrecks and the following reports:
1 aggravated assault
1 simple assault
4 alarms
1 animal complaint
1 disturbance
1 grand larceny
2 juvenile complaints
5 service calls
5 suspicious activities
1 vandalism
5 welfare concerns
1 transport
1 information
6 follow-ups
2 frauds
1 reckless driving
2 road obstruction

Deputies made the following arrests:
1 for reckless driving and driving while license suspended
1 disturbance of family
1 aggravated assault
2 contempt of court warrants

University Police Department made one arrest for public drunk and possession of a fake ID, investigated five wrecks and the following reports:
1 welfare check
1 suicide attempt
1 ambulance assist
2 suspicious vehicles
1 simple assault
1 intoxicated person
1 burglary at Stockard Hall

Oxford Fire Department responded to the following calls:
2/8 – 9:59 a.m. – CR 215 – wreck with entrapment – rescue removed the patient
2/8 – 2:37 p.m. – Sigma Nu house – call canceled
2/8 – 7:57 p.m. – Fred’s – smell of smoke coming from the heating unit – turned gas and electricity off to the unit
2/8 – 8:49 p.m. – 2401 Taylor Cove – smell of smoke – nothing found
2/9 – 8:17 a.m. – 801 Frontage road – lift assist
2/9 – 8:34 a.m. – Wilson Art – call canceled
2/9 – 10:15 a.m. – The Flatts Bldg. 3 – remodeling activated several alarms
2/9 – 12:20 p.m. – Marriott Townhouse Suites – removed someone stuck on an elevator
2/10 – 1:48 a.m. – 400 Shadow Creek Drive – medical call – EMS had already picked patient up and left by the time FD arrived
