OPD Nabs Two for Violations on Oxford Roadways
The Oxford Police Department continued to keep citizens safe in early 2019 after arresting two for violations on the road.
OPD received a call from a concerned citizen Jan. 1 for reckless driving. Officers pulled over the driver, David Holman, 49 of Oxford, and conducted a DUI investigation. Officers discovered his blood alcohol level was over the legal limit and transported him to the Lafayette County Detention Center. He was booked for DUI 4th. His bond was set at $15,000 by a Justice Court Judge.
Two days later, Jan. 3, a K9 officer conducted a traffic stop for a driver not wearing a seatbelt and driving a vehicle with no tag. Javon Hayes, 33 of Oxford, informed the officer there was a firearm in the vehicle. Officers confirmed Hayes was a convicted felon and transported him to the Lafayette County Detention Center where he was booked for possession of a firearm by a felon. He was given a bond of $10,000 by a Justice Court Judge.
