Women’s Basketball Defeats North Florida 82-69

The Ole Miss Rebels women’s basketball team picked up a 82-69 victory over the North Florida Ospreys on Friday afternoon in the Pavilion.
“[I’m] excited we finished the [2018] year 6-8,” Ole Miss coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin said. “The six wins for me is a step in the right direction.”
Ole Miss (6-8) was led on the court by senior Crystal Allen who put up a career-high 34 points in the game.
“This is a young lady who came in and trusted us,” McPhee-McCuin said.
Coach McPhee-McCuin picked up her 100th career victory on the day.
“It was great and I didn’t know that I was close to 100 wins till like two games ago,” she said.
Senior Shandricka Sessom joined Allen in double figure scoring as she added 12 of her own. Her teammate Mimi Reid put up 7 points and 10 assists in the win.
The Rebels took advantage of the game in the second quarter after a 27-27 tie in the first quarter.
North Florida was led in the game by Aria Emanuel-Wright with 24 points.
Ole Miss shot 50 percent from behind the arc against the Ospreys as they hit 26.1 percent.
The Rebels return to the court on January 3, as they step into conference action against the Missouri Tigers. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m. on the SEC Network +.
