The Ole Miss football team welcomed in a Top 25 signing class into Oxford on National Signing Day Wednesday for the 2019 season.

Coach Matt Luke was pleased with the 25 players that signed with the red and blue. Out of these players, 13 are on the offensive side of the ball and 12 on the defensive side.

“[I’m] really excited about this signing class,” Luke said. “Recruiting is about filling needs and we addressed a lot of those needs.”

The Rebels will have 11 mid-year signees that will be on campus for spring practice. Ole Miss found guys to address the needs at every position, according to Luke.

Ole Miss lost a large part of its receiving core to the NFL, but Jordan Jernigan, Jadon Jackson, Dannis Jackson and Dontario Durmmond look to come in and play key roles in the passing game.

On defense, the Rebels did a good job of getting junior college players onto the Ole Miss campus including two in the secondary that will be here for spring practice, Luke said.

Out of the 25 players who choose to come to Oxford 16 of them are from the state of Mississippi.

“This is another great Top 20 recruiting class,” Luke said. “There is a lot of great young men here.”

The Rebels did not get five-star recruit Nakobe Dean who is the No. 1 inside linebacker in the country out of Horn Lake who choose to go play for Georgia.

“Heading into February we look to fill two spots on the d-line, one spot at linebacker with one more receiver and running back,” Luke said.
