The Ole Miss Rebels football staff is reportedly looking at Mike MacIntyre as its possible new defensive coordinator. According to reports, MacIntyre is meeting with coach Matt Luke on Thursday.

Though the meeting hasn’t been confirmed, MacIntyre is reportedly on Ole Miss’ shortlist of future defensive coordinators, with other names like linebacker coach Pete Golding of Alabama.

He comes to Rebel Nation after being let go as the head coach in November by the University of Colorado. He spent almost six seasons at the helm for the Buffaloes.

In 2016, MacIntrye led Colorado to the Pac-12 championship game and earned AP College Football Coach of the Year honors. During his tenure, he guided the Buffaloes’ to a 30-44 overall record.

Prior to arriving at Colorado, he spent three seasons at San Jose State from 2010-12.

This wouldn’t be MacIntrye’s first visit to Oxford. He spent four years at Ole Miss (1999-2002) as the wide receivers coach for two seasons and the defensive secondary coach in his final two years.

MacIntyre played defensive back at Vanderbilt and Georgia Tech. The start to his extensive coaching career began at the University Georgia, where he was a graduate assistant.

It should be noted as of noon Thursday, Wikipedia—though not an official source—listed MacIntyre as the Rebels newest defensive coordinator.
