The Mississippi Bureau of investigations released the name of a robbery suspect that was found dead from unknown causes.
Last week, Oxford police officers responded to a report of a strong-armed robbery on Hathorn Road. According to reports, a man allegedly tried to steal a backpack from someone at a bus stop.
An OPD K9 led police to the suspect, Larry Patterson, 44, of Memphis, who was unresponsive. He was found between Oxford Square Townhomes and the shopping center on West Jackson Avenue.
Patterson was pronounced dead at the scene by Lafayette County Coroner Rocky Kennedy.
Patterson’s body was taken to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Jackson to determine the cause of death.
OPD turned the investigation over to the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation. No other details are available at this time.
