Junior wide receiver A.J. Brown had a record-setting day in College Station, Texas on Saturday against the Aggies as he became the new all-time career leader in receiving yards at Ole Miss.
Brown recorded six receptions for 127 yards to surpass the all-time record and reach 1,000 yards (1,047) for the second straight season.
The Starkville, Mississippi native passed former Rebel great Shay Hodge from 2006-09 who held the career record with 2,646. Brown currently sits at 2,711 career receiving yards with two games remaining on the schedule.
“(I’ve) been around a lot of great receivers here at Ole Miss. For him to be the all-time leading receiver, that’s a pretty special accomplishment for him,” Ole Miss head coach Matt Luke said. “I’m really proud of what he’s been able to accomplish. His attitude has been outstanding.”
During his career at Ole Miss, Brown is the only player to record 60 or more receptions in back-to-back seasons and gain more than 1,000 yards.
Brown was named as one of 11 semifinalists for the 2018 Biletnikoff Award, given by the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation, Inc. Monday, Nov. 13. This annual award recognizes the most outstanding FBS receiver in college football.
Brown and his teammates return to action Saturday night as they travel to Music City to take on the Vanderbilt Commodores. Kickoff is slated for 6:30 p.m. on the SEC Network.
