Texas A&M Rallies to Defeat Ole Miss 38-24

After the two SEC teams broke out in a defensive power struggle in the first half, Texas A&M defeated the Rebels by a score of 38-24.
Texas A&M scored the first points of the day as quarterback Kellen Mond found pay dirt from a yard out.
Ole Miss (5-5, 1-5) suffered a key loss to the running game as junior Scottie Phillips went down with a left ankle injury on the second series for the Rebels.
The Rebels quickly responded with 14 unanswered points manufactured off the arm of senior quarterback Jordan Ta’amu. Ta’amu found wide receiver DeMarcus Lodge, a senior, on a 44-yard pass to tie the game on the first play of the second quarter. He then scored on a run to take a 14-7 lead on a one-yard scamper.
Lodge finished the game with six receptions for 122 yards and one touchdown.
The Aggies tied the game at 14 all, as Mond hit his wide out Cameron Buckley on a 21-yard strike.
In the third quarter, Ole Miss broke a tied game on a 96-yard scoop-and-score fumble recovery by defensive back Zedrick Woods. Texas A&M responded with a touchdown of their own as Mond connected with wide out Quartney Davis on a 10 yard pass.
In the fourth quarter, the Aggies tacked on a field goal. Mond found Davis for their second connection on the day for a touchdown.
Ole Miss had an opportunity to put points on the board on a field goal off the boot of Luke Logan but he pushed it wide right. He bounced back with a 24-yard field goal late in the fourth quarter.
Texas A&M scored its last score of the game on a 46-yard dash to the end zone by running back Trayveon Williams.
Ta’amu finished the game 22-of-35 for 372 yards with a passing and rushing touchdown. The Landshark defense allowed the Aggies offense a total of 503 yards in the game.
Mond passed for a total of 236 yards with three touchdowns and an interception. He also scored a touchdown on the ground.
Ole Miss returns to the field next Saturday when they travel to the Music City to take on the Vanderbilt Commodores. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. on the SEC Network.
