Two pipe bombs and various modified weapons were discovered in an Oxford Sunday by the Oxford Police Department during a domestic disturbance call.
According to OPD, at about 3:28 p.m. officers responded to a home on South Lamar Boulevard for a domestic disturbance. Officers found the alleged victim wielding a weapon in defense to stop the assault. During the investigation, officers were given consent to search the home where they discovered the pipe bombs and weapons.
The house was evacuated and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the FBI and the Tupelo Police Bomb Unit were called to the scene.
Once a search warrant was obtained the Tupelo Bomb Unit entered the residence and secured the devices. Officers, along with federal agents, conducted a more detailed search of the property where multiple weapons, ammunition, narcotics and drug paraphernalia were discovered.
Kristopher Austin Griste, 22, of Oxford was charged with domestic violence with simple assault.
Other weapons charges are pending and no bond has been set at this time. This case is active and ongoing.
