Oxford Crime & Fire Reports for Nov. 1, 2018
The following reports were made Nov. 1, 2018, by city and county law enforcement agencies, unless otherwise indicated.
Oxford Police Department issued 22 tickets, investigated nine wrecks and the following reports:

1 animal complaint
1 civil matter
5 disturbing the peace complaints
1 elderly assist
1 improper parking
1 motorist assist
3 other agency assists
1 phone harassment
2 suspicious activities
2 suspicious persons
2 suspicious vehicles
2 vehicle searches
1 welfare check
OPD officers made the following arrests:
1 DUI-second
1 DUI and driving the wrong way on a one way street
2 for minor in possession of alcohol
2 for possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a schedule 4 drug, minor in possession of alcohol, no insurance and careless driving
1 possession of drug paraphernalia and one headlight
1 public drunk, fake ID and providing false information
1 domestic violence with simple assault
Lafayette Sheriff’s Department made one arrest for possession of drug paraphernalia, investigated one wreck and the following reports:

1 animal complaint
2 disturbances
3 juvenile complaint
1 malicious mischief
2 suspicious activities
2 transports
1 information
2 follow-ups
1 drug activity
University Police Department made no arrests, investigated five wrecks and investigated the following reports:
1 fire assist
1 malicious mischief
1 vandalism to a vehicle
5 wreck
1 property damage
1 disturbances
Oxford Fire Department responded to the following calls:
11:06 a.m. – 103 Farm View Dr. No. 104 – cooking activated a smoke detector
12:58 – p.m. North MS Regional Center, Fernwood Cottage – air handling unit motor going bad and smoking, no fire
4:25 – p.m. Turner Center area – blown transformer activated the Turner Center alarm panel
4:40 – p.m. The Blake – cooking activated the kitchen smoke detector
9:24 – p.m. Martin Hall – washing machine overloaded with clothes caused the belt to start smoking
11:52 – p.m. 122 Country View Cove – caller advised there was fire coming from the yard at this address – it was a fire pit that was left unattended – FD extinguished the fire
