Provision Oxford, a five-year-old interior design store in Oxford, may be young in age but has deep roots in the community. Located on University Avenue, this chic store has stolen the hearts of locals and visitors from all over the country.
Upon arrival customers are immediately captivated by the interiors that could populate their new home, including various items for the living room, bedroom and kitchen. The timeless accessories and charming gifts brightening the store enhances the special experience that Provision provides to its customers.
Doug Self, founder, is a graduate of the University of Mississippi from the Patterson School of Accountancy. Self has gift and furniture markets in both High Point, North Carolina and Atlanta markets, and is very involved with the items selected for each store. The love Self had in his heart for Ole Miss and the lack of the “perfect” interior store made Oxford the ideal location for Provision.
“It is hard to find someone who is artistically talented, but also a successful business owner. The store is evidence of that,” said Martha Collins, longtime friend of Self.
The unique interior store carries exclusive brands like Simon Pierce Glass, Nest candles, and Avasa linens. Beth Harris, employee of Provision, said she loves the special shopping experience that Provision offers its customers.
“Doug leaves a special imprint on everything in the store, which makes everything so much more special,” Harris said.
Provision started “Football Friday” this past football season, which was a way Self said he can give back to the community that gave so much to him. This event happened each Friday during big SEC game day weekends. As a tribute to the community, Provision selected a local philanthropy to give a portion of their weekend proceeds. The event hosted special guests to speak or showcase their products.
Many see Provision as an escape, a place where they can go to socialize while being in awe of beautiful interiors.
“It’s a happy place. People come in, they visit, they catch up with their friends. It’s become a place for people to come and gather,” Harris said.
