One Night Stand Art Show Returns to Oxford this Weekend

Artists from around the world travel endlessly to promote and sell their pieces through the production of art galleries. Oxford is one of the many abundant cities across the globe that offers artists and collectors alike the opportunity to engage in that experience.

The annual One Night Stand Art Show returns Saturday, Oct. 13, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., at the Ole Miss Motel—located at 1517 University Ave.

The show, which began in 2007, will have pieces from 12 different artists. Each artist will transform a motel room into their gallery for the evening.

The show was created by Erin Austen Abbott—owner of Amelia Present’s and an artist in her own right—as an alternative way for artists to display their work in a nontraditional setting.

The main goal of this particular art show is to bring people together for the enjoyment of art, the support of artists by making purchases, and simply to enjoy a fun party, Abbott said.

“It’s been an Oxford highlight for the last 11 years,” she said. “I don’t see myself ending it anytime soon.”

Over the years the One Night Show has reached beyond the boundaries of the LOU community. 

“I’ve had attendees from 25 states and 10 countries so far, that I know of,” Abbott said.

Prior to the public showing, those who purchase a $20 ticket have the opportunity to view and purchase art first from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The show will include food provided by the Smoke Shop Oxford and drinks by Jackson Beer Company.
