Arrival of Pumpkins at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church Marks Beginning of Fall

Although the temperature isn’t indicative of the season, there’s no doubt fall is officially here. However, locals who travel down West Jackson Avenue know the unofficial start to fall when they see pumpkins of all shapes and sizes scattered and piled along the sidewalk leading to St. Peter’s Episcopal Church.
There are hundreds of pumpkins and gourds ready for Oxonians to lug home in hopes of painted or carved faces. Each has its own DNA, with varying curves, knobs, stalks and marks that make picking your own pumpkin a truly unique experience.
For a first glimpse of fall colors—from bright orange, green and white pumpkins to the brittle foliage of brown and tan littering the overhanging Oak branches—stop by St. Peter’s Episcopal Church at 113 S. 9th St. to bask in the atmosphere of the season change.
The pumpkin patch is open Monday-Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Sundays from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Pumpkin prices vary.
