As politicians across the United States campaign for their respective seats in Washington D.C., President Donald J. Trump has recently been hosting “Make America Great Again” rallies across the nation advocating for Republicans who are running for office in the November elections
The president has rescheduled his Mississippi “MAGA” rally for Tuesday, Oct. 2, in Southaven, Mississippi at the Landers Center—located at 4560 Venture Drive—which will advocate for Mississippians to vote for Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith. Doors open at 4 p.m. and President Trump is slated to speak at 7 p.m.
Admission for the rallies are free, but tickets are required through President Trump’s website.
Trump had originally planned a campaign rally for the newly appointed senator that was originally slated for Jackson on Sept. 14; however, the president rescheduled his rally for Hyde-Smith due to Hurricane Florence.
Hyde-Smith was appointed to the Senate by Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant in March after Former Sen. Thad Cochran stepped down due to his battle with health problems.
The newly appointed senator has been endorsed by the president, according to Hyde-Smith’s website, in regards to the open Senate seat.
Hyde-Smith will face off against two different opponents this mid-election season: Chris McDaniel (R) and Mike Espy (D).
The three major issues Hyde-Smith advocates for are pro-life, the 2nd Amendment, and illegal immigration.
All three issues have been major talking points in the current supreme court confirmation hearings for Judge Brett Kavanaugh for the past several weeks, who Hyde-Smith supports to be confirmed.
“I stand with our president 100 percent, and I look forward to supporting Judge Kavanaugh’s confirmation,” Hyde-Smith stated on her website.
