“We accomplished a big milestone we set for ourselves when we began district play 1-0,” Oxford Head Coach Chris Cutcliffe said. “Our team handled the situation of the Southaven game being moved to Saturday extremely well. Our coaching staff did a tremendous job of keeping their units focused and prepared to play.”
Quarterback John Meagher tossed for 127 yards and one touchdown in the win.
Oxford wants to continue to focus on improving each week, Cutcliffe said.
South Panola heads to Oxford with a 2-4 overall record and a 0-1 mark in district play. The Tigers fell on the road at Horn Lake by the score of 45-13.
“We know we have a big challenge this week with a really good South Panola team coming to town,” Cutcliffe said. “Coach Woods is one of the best to ever do it in the state of Mississippi, so we know we’ll have a really well coached, really talented opponent this week.”
