Ole Miss Volleyball Drops Tight Match to Memphis

The Ole Miss Rebels dropped a highly contested match against rival Memphis Tigers 3-2 inside the Gillom Center on Tuesday.
“We are disappointed in the outcome,” Ole Miss coach Steven McRoberts said. “Memphis played really well and we knew coming in this would be a rivalry game.”
Ole Miss (9-2) opened strong against the Tigers with a 25-16 win in the first set. Memphis narrowly won set two 25-21 after a service error by Rebel Emily Stroup.
The Tigers took set three in a highly contested round, 30-28. Ole Miss tied the best of five to 2-2 in the fourth. Memphis won the final set 15-10 to take the match.
“Memphis got some really critical points in the third set when it looked like we could pull that out,” McRoberts said.
Stroup recorded 27 kills in the match and her teammate, Leah Mulkey, tallied 17 kills. Junior Jordan Fate finished the night with 46 assists.
