Oxford Crime and Emergency Reports for Aug. 20, 2018

The following reports were made Aug. 20, 2018, by city and county law enforcement agencies, unless otherwise indicated.

Oxford Police Department issued 39 tickets, investigated 14 wrecks and the following reports:

1 ambulance assist
1 careless driving complaint
1 disturbing the peace complaint
1 fire department assist
1 lost property
2 motorist assists
2 obstructing traffic complaints
2 petty thefts
1 phone harassment
1 public drunk
2 suspicious activities
1 suspicious person
1 trespassing
4 welfare concerns

OPD made the following arrests:
1 DUI, no tag, no insurance and open container
1 public drunk

Lafayette Sheriff’s Department made no arrests, investigated one wreck and the following reports:

2 juvenile complaints
4 service calls
1 suspicious activity
1 trespassing
1 information
2 follow-ups
1 unauthorized use of vehicle
1 reckless driving
2 road obstructions

University Police Department conducted five traffic stops and investigated the following reports:
3 wrecks
1 fraud
1 accident
1 larceny
1 medical call

Oxford Fire Department reports were unavailable Thursday.
At 7:58 a.m.- One Day Signs – wreck with injuries – bandaged a cut on one patient – EMS transported others
At 9:09 a.m. – 1518 Jefferson Ave. – call canceled
At 12:33 p.m. – Communicare – medical call – EMS already on scene
At 12:45 p.m. – Deaton Hall Room 320 – using a vaporizer activated the smoke detector
At 4:12 p.m. – Hwy. 7 / 6 – wreck – no injuries
At 8:47 p.m. – 206 Eagle Nest Lane – lightning strike with no fire – tripped several breakers
At 9:03 p.m. – Canterbury Crest No. 119 – cooking activated the smoke detector
At 9:41 p.m. – Kappa Alpha Room 5 – appeared to be a soft drink splashed on the smoke detector causing an activation
At 4:55 this morning – State Veterans Home – cooking in the kitchen activated a smoke detector
