Ole Miss' Beau Briggs Chosen as Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar

Ole Miss junior golfer Beau Briggs was named a Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar Wednesday by the Golf Coaches Association of American (GCAA) for his performance in the classroom and on the golf course.

A record number of student-athletes earned the prestigious All-America Scholar status this year, including 265 in Division I, 126 in Division II, and 23 in the NAIA.
To be eligible for the Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar status an individual must be a junior or senior, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in 50 percent of his team’s competitive rounds, have a stroke-average under 76.0 in Division I, 78.0 in Division II, 78.0 in NAIA and 79.0 in Division III, and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
Briggs, an economics major, competed in 10 events last year for the Rebels, compiling a 73.40 stroke average — good for third on the team. He had a season-low of 69 during the NCAA Bryan Regional, tying a career-best score. During the fall, the Covington, Louisiana, native posted his first top-five finish as a Rebel. He fired a three-round total of 214 (72-70-72) at the FAMC Intercollegiate at The Grove, helping Ole Miss finish runner-up.
The All-America Scholar honor adds to Briggs’ lists of academic accomplishments this season. He was named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and also earned a spot on the SEC spring academic honor roll.
