Former Lafayette High School math teacher Molly Wray has been arrested and charged with enticing a child to meet for sexual purposes.
Wray and her attorney, Tony Farese, appeared at the Lafayette County Circuit Court on Monday afternoon for a scheduled probable cause hearing. However, Wray waived her right to the hearing.
Circuit Court Judge John A. Gregory issued a warrant for Wray’s arrest and set her bond to $10,000.
Wray did appear briefly in the courtroom but left before it was announced there would be no probable cause hearing.
On June 11, the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department, in conjunction with the Mississippi Bureau of Investigations, filed charges against Wray, 27, after the sheriff’s department received a report from Lafayette County School District Superintendent Adam Pugh that Wray had allegedly engaged in improper conduct with a male student.
The alleged victim was 17 years old at the time of the reported incident.
Wray has since resigned from her position at Lafayette High School, according to Pugh.
The case will be presented to the Lafayette County Grand Jury in August.
Wray could face two to 10 years in prison if convicted of the charge.
