OSD Seeking Clothing, Donations for Employee Who Lost Home

The Oxford School District is asking the community to help out a district employee and his family who lost all their belongings after a fire blazed through their home Tuesday afternoon.

The fire on County Road 181 started at about 2:30 p.m. and damaged much of the home. What wasn’t destroyed in the fire was heavily smoke damaged. No injuries were reported.
The home belonged to Earl Shaw, maintenance specialist for the OSD that he shares with Bettye Herron and their three children.
OSD is asking for donations of immediate needs such as clothing and shoes for the children and basic needs like towel and toiletries.
Donations can be dropped off at the OSD Central Office on Bramlett Boulevard between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Sizes for clothing and shoes for the two boys are 10.5-11 and 9 for boys and size medium and large shirts and pants, 36×34 and 33×32. For the girl, shoes in size 7.5, medium in shirts and size 10 pants.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Shaw has worked for the school district for 18 years in food service, grounds and is currently in the maintenance department. Herron works at Kappa Delta sorority on the University of Mississippi campus.
A GoFundMe account has been set up and had raised almost $3,500 as of 10 p.m. Tuesday.
