Ole Miss’ Thomas Dillard lived up to his nickname ‘Dilly Dilly’ in the 2018 Rocket Mortgage College Home Run Derby Sunday night at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha. He walked away from the plate with a total of 33 home runs.
Dillard found his rhythm at the plate quickly in the first round with Rebels assistant coach Mike Clement throwing to him. He belted out 16 bombs on two different tears.
The Oxford native finished second going into the second round behind leader Nick Ready, of Air Force, with 18.
In the second round, Dillard got off to a slow start with one long ball, but after the time out he blasted an additional 16 including the money ball.
Dillard was knocked out of the competition by Clemson’s Logan Davidson, who hit 23 long balls into the Omaha sky.
Dillard became the first ever Rebel to advance to the second round of the College Home Run Derby.
