This summer, Ole Miss head baseball coach Mike Bianco will put away his baseball cleats for a pair of ballroom dancing shoes as he competes in “Dance Like the Stars” August 11 at the BancorpSouth Arena in Tupelo. The event benefits the Boys and Girls Club of North Mississippi.
“Dance Like the Stars”, much like the TV show “Dancing with the Stars”, pairs “celebrity dancers” with professional partners. The pair with the best routine will be named Dance Champions. The dancer who raises the most money will be named Grand Champion.
“I’ll be dancing with Tammy Wilson of The Dance Studio here in Oxford,” Bianco said in a letter on Twitter. “The problem is I don’t dance, so I will work very hard not to embarrass myself or my family. The thing I learned very quickly is it is not about me…it is about the children. That’s why I am doing this.”
The Boys and Girls Club provides the Oxford/Lafayette community, as well as other north Mississippi communities, resources to promote academic success, healthy lifestyles, and good character and citizenship.
“I will try my best, but I’m not sure I will be dance champion,” Bianco said. “It is certainly my goal to be Grand Champion.”
Help Coach Bianco obtain that goal by making a tax-deductible donation or purchase tickets at bgcnms.org.
