Ole Miss Students Crowned Miss Mississippi and Miss Tennessee
An Ole Miss graduate and current student will represent the states of Mississippi and Tennessee in the 2018 Miss America pageant.
Miss Tupelo, Asya Branch, was crowned Miss. Mississippi on Saturday in Vicksburg. Miss Chattanooga, Christine Williamson, was crowned Miss Tennessee at the state pageant in Jackson, Tennessee.
Branch is a Booneville, Mississippi native and University of Mississippi student majoring in integrated marketing communications in the Meek School of Journalism and New Media.
Branch’s platform is empowering children of incarcerated parents.
Williamson recently graduated from Ole Miss with a degree in broadcast journalism. The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga her platform is Alzheimer’s Awareness: Advocating, Fundraising and Providing Hope.
Runners-up in this year’s Miss Mississippi were Miss New South Tanner Fant of Starkville as first-runner up; second runner-up was Miss Northland Holly Harrington of Tupelo; third runner-up was Miss Ponototoc Ridge Danna Wesley of West Point and the fourth runner-up was Miss. University of Southern Mississippi Macy Mitchell of Petal.
The Miss America Pageant will be held Sept. 9 in Atlantic City, N.J.
