Former Rebel Shay Hodge Returns to Coach in Mississippi
Former Ole Miss wide receiver Shay Hodge is fulling a lifelong dream of being a coach. Hodge accepted a job as the offensive coordinator at Provine High School in Jackson.
Hodge announced his new position Tuesday on Instagram.
Hodge spent four years in a Rebels uniform from 2006-2009. During that time he tallied impressive numbers—22 touchdowns in just 173 receptions and 2,646 total yards gained. He ranks second all-time at Ole Miss in receptions (173) and TD catches (22). He gained 100-plus yards in six of those games, which tied him for second in Ole Miss program stats. His 2,646 total receiving yards ranks him No. 1 in program history.
Hodge competed in the 2010 Senior Bowl and participated in the 2010 NFL Scouting Combine. He signed an NFL free-agent contract with the San Francisco 49ers when the draft concluded. He was released during rookie camp and was immediately offered a spot with the Washington Redskins. The Redskins waived him during final cuts, but he joined the practice squad of the Cincinnati Bengals in 2010.
