Rebel Softball Headed to Tempe Regional to Start NCAA Tournament
The Ole Miss softball team has earned a bid to the NCAA Softball Tournament for the third consecutive year. Ole Miss will begin their run to Oklahoma City out at the Tempe Regional hosted by No. 8 national seed Arizona State Sun Devils.
Ole Miss finished the regular season with a record of 30-23 and will take on Long Beach State in the first game on Friday at 6 p.m. on ESPN. The host Arizona State will take on New Mexico State. The regional will then continue Saturday and Sunday in the double elimination format.
If the Rebels and the Sun Devils face each other during the regional, it will be a rematch of sorts, with Ole Miss defeating Arizona State in 2017 on the way to sweeping the Oxford Regional and advancing to the program’s first-ever Super Regional in Los Angeles.
The winner of the Tempe Regional will advance to play the winner of the Columbia Regional in the Super Regional round May 24-27. That region features No. 9 national seed South Carolina as well as Liberty, Hofstra and UNCG.
This marks the second-year that all 13 schools from the Southeastern Conference made the NCAA Tournament.
