Rebel Basketball Opens a Home-and-Home Series vs. Butler
Next season, the Ole Miss men’s basketball team will begin a home-and-home series with an unfamiliar foe, the Butler Bulldogs. The series announcement was made on Friday afternoon.
The Rebels will travel first in this series as they go to Indianapolis to play on the historic hardwood of Hinkle Fieldhouse. Then in the 2019-20 season, the Bulldogs will make the trip to Oxford to play in the Pavilion. Exact dates for these games are not set at this time.
“I have so much respect for the tradition of Butler Basketball,” Ole Miss head coach Kermit Davis said. “The last time I faced them at Middle Tennessee, they knocked us out of the NCAA Tournament. We are looking forward to the challenge of going to Hinkle Fieldhouse this year before hosting them in our beautiful building, The Pavilion at Ole Miss, next year. This will be a great home-and-home series for our program.”
On Thursday, the Rebels learned that they were invited to take part in the fifth annual Emerald Coast Classic Tournament on Thanksgiving weekend. Joining Ole Miss on the sandy beaches will be Cincinnati, George Manson and Baylor. The Rebels won the inaugural tournament during the 2014-15 season by defeating the Cincinnati in the championship game.
