Charleston Residents Attend William Winter Institute Workshop

GroupShot01-1A group of seventeen Charleston residents gathered in Jackson at the Eagle Ridge Conference Center on Friday, May 31st and Saturday, June 1 for a weekend of workshops sponsored by the William Winter Institute for Racial Reconciliation.

The workshops were intended to teach people proven processes for moving forward toward solutions by reaching beyond boundaries, uniting communities and sharing personal stories. Through this process, participants learned to work together to improve race relations and hence, their communities as a whole.

Saturday’s schedule included a full day of engaging workshops on important personal and community matters. Attendees learned about the importance of creating mutual understanding and asking open honest questions.

“Each and every attendee was changed in a positive way by the experience,” said attendee John Allison. “We are now dedicated to carrying what was learned back to Charleston … as we work together to move Charleston forward.”
