New Twist-Off for Miss-I-Sippin' Has Beer Fans Foaming
Oxford’s Yoknapatawpha Arts Council (YAC) is ready to host their 9th annual craft beer festival, Miss-I-Sippin’ this weekend, March 23-25.
The festival kicks off with a Brewers Dinner hosted by Southern Craft Stove & Tap Friday night. Beer enthusiasts will have the opportunity to meet and greet the owners or brewers from the breweries featured in this year’s festival. The menu will feature Mississippi favorites from Delta Pride Catfish and Sanderson Farms from Southern Craft’s chef Bubba Gross and offer flights of craft beer. Games and activities will also be featured at the event to keep the party “hoppin’.” The Brewers Dinner begins at 6 p.m. Friday, March 23.
The first-ever Miss-I-Sippin’ team scavenger hunt will take place Saturday.
“I am excited about the app for the scavenger hunt,” said Wayne Andrews, director of YAC. “I think that it will allow the festival to be a city wide event and really give participants an authentic flavor of Oxford.”
Participants download an app to navigate the hunt that begins at noon at The Growler on Oxford’s. The hunt lasts until 6 p.m., and then guests can head to the Old Armory Pavilion where the “Firkin” Beer Festival takes place, featuring beer sampling, live music, games and prizes. A full listing of brewers partners is available on YAC’s website with chances to win free tickets.
A brunch will be prepared by chef Bubba Gross at Southern Craft Stove & Tap from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday to bring the festival to an end.
Proceeds from the event support YAC’s year-round art and community programs.
Tickets for Miss-I-Sippin’ can be purchased online at oxfordarts.com or at YAC’s office, which is located in The Powerhouse at 413 S. 14th Street. Follow YAC on Facebook for updates about the festival and find out about opportunities to win tickets.
