Oxford Film Festival Receives Mississippi Arts Commission Grant

The Oxford Film Festival (OFF) has been awarded a $575 grant from the Mississippi Arts Commission (MAC).
The grant will be used to pay the registration fee for the Film Festival Alliance annual conference. It allows OFF executive director Melanie Addington to provide a presentation on the festival at the ArtHouse Convergence, which takes place before the Sundance Film Festival in Utah this January.
The grant is a portion of the $1.3 million in grants the MAC will award in 2017-2018. The grants are made possible by continued funding from the Mississippi State Legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts.
The Oxford Film Festival will be one of 10 organizations highlighted at the ArtHouse Convergence. The annual conference began when the Sundance Institute invited 14 art house theaters to the 2006 Sundance Film Festival. It now draws hundreds of attendees, including festival directors, from across the globe.
Addington will discuss the history of the Oxford Film Festival at the ArtHouse Tales seminar.
“Arts organizations throughout the state of Mississippi play a pivotal role in sharing the power of the arts with people from all walks of life,” said Malcolm White, executive director of MAC. “The arts are for everyone, and the Mississippi Arts Commission is pleased to support arts organizations committed to growing the presence of the arts in their communities.”
