Ole Miss Women’s Basketball Hosts Southern Alabama Saturday in Oxford
The Ole Miss women’s basketball team welcomes Southern Alabama to the Pavilion Saturday, with tipoff time set for 1 p.m.
The Rebels head into this matchup with a 7-1 record and are chasing the program’s first 8-1 record since 2005. Their non-conference opponents, the Jaguars, sit at 5-2 on the season so far.
Ole Miss is coming off of a win by almost 30 points over Arkansas State. The team shot .458 percent and ended up ranked number 44 in the NCAA RPI report.
The Rebs are shooting at a clip of .464 from the three-point line and are averaging 43 rebounds per game.
This game against the Jaguars brings recently honored SEC Freshman of the Week Promise Taylor an opportunity to build upon her already impressive numbers. Against Middle Tennessee and Arkansas State, Taylor averaged 10.5 points per game and 9.5 rebounds per game.
Junior Madinah Muhammad, meanwhile, has been shooting fire. Defenses have trouble keeping her from scoring. She is ranked second in the SEC and 22nd in the nation for scoring. In the eight games the Rebels have played this year, Muhammad has scored 24 points or more.
Southern Alabama competes in the Sun Belt Conference. The Jaguars are led by Head Coach Terry Fowler, who, in his fifth season coaching, holds a 44-81 overall record.
The game will be televised on the SEC Network.
