Begging, Disturbing the Peace, and More in Today's Crime Report
Oxford police responded to the following calls: Abuse to 911, 12 alarm, two ambulance assist, four animal complaint, begging, nine careless driving, three civil matter, 21 disturbing the peace, three malicious mischief, four motor assist, open door, two parking, three petit larceny, reported gunshots, three shoplifting, 10 suspicious activity, six suspicious persons, suspicious vehicles, seven welfare concerns.
Oxford police investigated 17 accident, 58 tickets and made the following arrest:
Begging
DUI 1st, Noise Violation, Possession of less than 30G of Marijuana
DUI 1st, Possession of Paraphernalia, Minor in Possession, Expired Tag
No Driver’s License, No Liability Insurance
Possession of Schedule 2 Drug, Possession of Schedule 4 Drug
Public Drunk
Public Drunk, Resisting Arrest
Public Drunk, Shoplifting
Public Drunk, Warrant Served, Domestic Disturbance
Speeding, Possession of Paraphernalia
Lafayette Sheriff’s Department responded to the following incidents: Six accidents, simple assault, four alarms, three animal complaints, auto burglary, 15 disturbances, two domestic violence, grand larceny, five petit larceny, juvenile complaint, 13 service calls, seven suspicious activities, six welfare concerns, two transports, two traffic complaints, four reckless driving, two civil matters.
Lafayette Sheriff’s Department made three arrests
two domestic violence, simple assault
suspended driver’s license, possession of paraphernalia

12/1 – 15:12 – Phi Kappa Psi house – smoke machine activated a smoke detector
12/1 – 15:57 – Crosby Hall 9th floor – workers sanding sheetrock activate a smoke detector
12/1 – 19:31 – The Domain – building 7, 1st-floor fire alarm pull station malfunction
12/1 – 22:34 – AOPi house – basement fire alarm pull station malfunction
12/2 – 12:21 – 1106 Grant Circle – possible heart attack – EMS on scene before FD arrived
12/2 – 20:59 – 1100 Augusta Drive – resident broke a sprinkler head causing the water flow alarm to activate
12/2 – 22:09 – 1412 Madison Ave. – the smell of something burning – turned the heater on dust burning off
12/2 – 22:13 – Townhouse Suites by Marriott Room 214 – burned popcorn activated the smoke detector
12/3 – 09:16 – Ear, Nose, Throat – call canceled
12/3 – 19:32 – Stewart Hall – smell of smoke – motor on dryer broke causing the belt to smoke
12/4 – 03:39 – Crosby 1st floor lounge – burned popcorn activated the smoke detector
University Police: Vehicle stops, suspicious person, assist with traffic, motor vehicle accident, public drunk, possession of paraphernalia, loud noise.
