UM Alum Brings a "New Look" to the World of Cosmetology
Sarah Kate Purvis of Corinth, Mississippi found her niche in life “later rather than sooner,” but all’s well when the final product looks great.
“The favorite aspect of my profession for me is doing color. However, I like all aspects and creating the whole look. I like to have my clients feeling good about themselves,” Purvis said.
With her demand so great, Purvis always has a waiting list but finds the time to accommodate everyone.
“I stay current with the latest trends in fashion,” Purvis said. “And I provide the best treatment possible when hearing and listening closely to my clients’ wants and needs.”
Purvis changed her major four times while at Ole Miss before settling on attending cosmetology school.
“My mother always cut my hair and my great-grandfather was a barber which likely steered me to the field of cosmetology,” she said.
It was while in college that she ultimately chose her profession and became an instant success starting in 2006.
Purvis has over 11 years of experience as a cosmetologist. In addition to her hair services, she performs a number of other services including nails, both natural and artificial, full body waxing for both men and women, and hair extensions. Sarah Kate also
specializes in wedding day and special events services including hair styling,
airbrush makeup and spray tans.
Asked why her passion lies in cosmetology, Purvis said, “I care about what I do and want the very best results. I desire for my clients to look and feel beautiful after coming in the salon and every time this feeling is accomplished, it’s the ultimate satisfaction for me.”
