The 70-year-old jewelry business Van Atkins Jewelers has become an institution in New Albany and now they’ve expanded into Oxford.

Both Van Cooper and his wife Carly, who are directing the Oxford location, are from New Albany originally. Van and Carly have recently made the move to Oxford and are very excited to be a part of the community.
“When the perfect location became available, we jumped at the opportunity to expand into such a strong and welcoming city,” Van said. “My family and I grew up tailgating in the Grove before football games and have many fond memories here in Oxford. After only being open a month, we have enjoyed meeting and welcoming a large new customer base to the Van Atkins family.”
Van is a graduate from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) with a degree as a graduate gemologist. He is trained in diamond and colored stones grading. Much like a financial advisor, he is qualified to assist customers in making sound jewelry investments, as well as appraising jewelry for insurance purposes. With a veteran bench jeweler on site, combined with Van’s Computer Aided Design (CAD) degree, they are able to bring custom design visions to life.
Van Atkins is known to have the largest selection of engagement rings and diamond solitaires within the state of Mississippi.
“We pride ourself on our large diamond inventory, offering five different price ranges in most diamond sizes,” Van said.
Because of its large inventory, Oxford and Lafayette County residents can select from considerable new as well as antique bridal and anniversary rings.
This reputable family-owned business brings their valued jewelry expertise to the Oxford Square. Van Atkins is located on the west side of the Square and is open six days a week. The store’s beautiful brick interior enhances the colorful inventory awaiting the local community and the Ole Miss family.
“Oxford, you know your worth it!”
