Lafayette Upper Elementary PTO to Unveil New Playground Friday
The Lafayette Commodores Upper Elementary school has a new playground. On Friday, the parent-teacher organization at the Upper Elementary School will have a special ribbon cutting for the playground at 1 p.m.
This new playground has two complete stages and over 125 students can play at once. The Lafayette Upper Elementary School PTO made a decision two years ago to focus on raising funds for a playground since the 3rd through 5th-grade students at LUES had no playground on which to play during their daily break.
In less than two years the LUES PTO, along with the Lafayette Endowment Fund for Education (LEFE), rallied the Lafayette Commodores community behind this effort and successfully raised nearly $45,000 to install the much-needed, two new play structures for the students.
The LUES will officially unveil the new complete structures to the community. LUES asks the community to join them at 1 p.m.
