Palmer Home for Children to Host 'Tailgate for Palmer' Saturday
The second annual Tailgate for Palmer is set for this Saturday, Oct. 7, from 7-10 p.m. in Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.
The event will feature live SEC action on the jumbotron, field access, catering from Grit, a raffle and a performance by the Palmer Home’s very own children’s choir, the TrebleMakers, at 7:30 p.m.
“We have sold about 250 tickets through sponsorship and individual ticket sales this year,” said Sarah Hollis, vice president of engagement for the Palmer Home.
Hollis said she predicts a rush of ticket sales this week as the event approaches. Tickets are $50 per person, which includes all food and drink for ages 21 and up.
Raffle tickets are $15 for one or $100 for ten. The item being raffled is a Lit Cooler, which has a value of over $350. The cooler contains LED lights, so you can see what you’re drinking when it’s dark outside!
Hollis said, “We were thrilled with the results of our first event, and we have every intention of exceeding those this year.”
The event is being held in conjunction with the Great 38 race. When signing up for one of the Great 38 races, runners are encouraged to also purchase a ticket to the Tailgate for Palmer.
“We decided to work together since our race honors Chucky Mullins, a former Ole Miss football player who was a foster child himself,” said Jill Clifton Knight, assistant race director of the Great 38. “From all we’ve learned about Chucky through his foster parents, Carver and Karen Phillips, Run Oxford and the Palmer Home believe he’d be excited about this partnership.”
Proceeds from the race go toward The Chucky Mullins Endowment, and proceeds from the Tailgate for Palmer go to the Palmer Home for Children.
