Careless Driving, Suspicious Activity and More in Today's Crime Report
Oxford police responded to the following calls: 911 hang up, abandoned vehicle, five alarms, ambulance assist, animal complaint, careless driving two disturbing the peace, two motorist assist four suspicious activity, four suspicious persons, theft form motor vehicle, welfare concern.
Oxford police investigated nine accidents, 36 tickets and made the following arrest:
DUI 1st, no tag, MIP, possession of paraphernalia
MIP, Fake ID
Two possession of paraphernalia
Possession of paraphernalia, No Seatbelt
Public Drunk
Lafayette Sheriff’s Department responded to the following incidents: Two accidents, simple assault, three alarms, animal complaints, two disturbances, one domestic violence, petit larceny, harassment, 14 service calls, two suspicious activities, two welfare concerns, fraud, three reckless driving, court detail, littering/dumping, civil matter, ID theft, natural cause death.
Lafayette Sheriff’s Department made three arrests
Two domestic violence, simple assault

Oxford Fire Department:
08:17 – Belk Blvd. Hwy 7 – wreck no injuries
09:44 – Deaton Hall – someone accidentally hit a pull station fire alarm with laundry basket
11:26 – AOPi – call canceled
11:47 – 1515 University Ave – kitchen heat detector malfunction
14:08 – 1434 University Ave. – possible stroke
14:23 & 16:03 – 615 Rebel Drive – room 214 – smoke detector malfunction
17:29 – 146 Garden Terrace – a gas can fell out of the back of a truck and spilled gas on the street
17:43 – Hermitage Gardens – burned popcorn
University Police: Five vehicle stops, harassing telephone calls, property damage.
